Meet & Greet

Meet and Greet 2016 was a welcoming day led by MASCA Queensland in collaboration with other MSOs of Queensland. This time around, Malaysians have upped the ante with other organizations such as ISMA Australia, IKRAM Australia, Kalsom-MASCA Revisit Workshop and Buku Jalanan Brisbane joining in to make their presence known to students old and new. Here's what the participants had to say.

Held on the 19th of March 2016, the UQ Lakes was transformed into a mini Market Day special for Malaysian students. We and our MSO partners had a number of games in-store for the newcomers and also old students who wanted to join in the fun. The games were part of a human-bingo which participants used as a ticket to get their lunch. One of the big attractions of the day was the Lion Dance performance coming all the way from Gold Coast. As is every year, there were performances from Malaysian talents of Brisbane as well.

Secangkir Pertemuan

Our first event of the semester, Secangkir Pertemuan was held last Sunday, 13th March 2016. It was unfortunate that it rained the whole day so we couldn't do it outdoors as planned. Instead we managed to gather everyone indoors - boys and girls in separate houses - courtesy of the home owners and had a wonderful evening of knowing one another.

"Secangkir pertemuan merupakan satu inisiatif yang baik bagi mengeratkan silaturrahim sesama pelajar Malaysia. Kadangkala, kita berada di universiti yang sama tapi tidak mengenal pun satu sama lain. Majlis secangkir pertemuan diserikan dengan pengisian yang baik sebelum majlis makan-makan. Di samping dapat mengeratkan silaturrahim, minda juga dapat makanan juga. Secara keseluruhan saya berpuas hati dengan perjalanan majlis. Tarikh dan masa juga sangat baik iaitu diadakan pada minggu kedua semester dan pada hujung minggu dengan mengambil kira faktor kesibukan pelajar."

Meet & Greet 2016

Assalamualaikum and good day.

If you haven't heard, MASCA will hold a Meet & Greet session this Saturday, 19th March at UQ Lakes. Not only will MASCA be there, the other MSO will be around to meet and greet you guys.

HAKIM will have a booth, alongside our MSO buddies, where we have activities lined up for you. Come and meet us this weekend as well as the rest of the Malaysian community here in Brisbane.

Ku imbas kembali sepanjang perjalanan

Jauh Tam termenung sambil layan lagu Mawi, Al Nuraa Yang Lima Yang Enam kat Saraghae Park. Selesai sudah tiga exam, Tam tinggal lagi je satu exam.

“Aduhhh, apasal ada air mata pulak ni? Ke air hujan?”

Kerajaan

Pantas jemari menekan on pada punat radio kereta, butang 6, berfrequensi 92.96FM. Sugar daripada band Maroon 5 menjadi halwa telinga. Badan mula menari kecil mengikut rentak lagu, ke kiri dan ke kanan.

“Kakak, afamaiyamshi?”, ayah mematikan radio.

“Aduhai, kena tebuk pulak”, keluh hati.

Aku gagahkan juga menyambung walaupun kurang yakin.

Adeh, salah pulak!

     “Ayah ni page berapa?”

     “Hujung-hujung”

     “Err, kakak tak sampai situ lagi”, terkulat-kulat aku membalas.

     “Page kedua?”

     Geleng lemah.
